As composer, arranger and orchestrator, Flavio Gargano writes music for documentaries, mainstream Italian television markets, including RAI, SKY, and MEDIASET, and international marketing campaigns. He started playing the piano at age six, following up with the electronic organ, and analog synthesizer. This led him to explore composition and orchestration, and resulted in extensive experience with professional studio recording. In 2002, Flavio moved to Milan, where he worked as sound engineer for SKY. It was there that he met the directors and music producers who would expose him to, and nurture him through, years of advertising and sound design experience. During that time, he worked with a variety of artists and companies, including Tbwa, McCann, Filmmaster, 1861 United, Good Day Films, Gray, Saatchi & Saatchi and Snatch. He also composed music for major music labels such as Warner Chappell Music, and Flippermusic.

In 2013, Flavio moved to Rome, composing music for theatrical shows. Soon thereafter he was awarded “Best Music of Italian Web Series”, for “Sìsara”, produced by Tauron Entertainment. The real breakthrough came in 2014, when Gargano was discovered by a major tv producer and brought in join the team at RAI for projects like “La vita in diretta,” “A conti fatti,” “Geo&geo,” and “Presa diretta.” Soon he was asked to write music for advertisers, more tv series, and documentaries. He then branched out into film, and composed for the tv series “Anna e i cinque” Season 2, “La vita promessa”, and “Quanto basta”.
Flavio’s first musical for classical orchestra, “Canterville – The Musical,” went live at the Auditorium Conciliazione in Rome, on November 6th, 2015 . The musical not only showcased his classical influences, but also the power behind his epic melodies and orchestrations. Shortly thereafter he met Cinzia Angelini, the creator and writer of “Mila,” and agreed to compose the music for the animated short. Flavio’s acclaimed music on Mila won Best Original Score at various festivals around the world including, Cannes International Independent Film Festival, Infinity Film Festival, Santa Monica Shorts, Burbank International Film Festival, Accolade Global Film Competition and Seattle Film Festival and has been recently nominated at the Annie Award for Best Music-TV/Media.
Since 2019, he has created music for the animated series OPS (52x11’), various series for Sky, and the animated series SKYKIDS (16X1'30'') for Ritzy Animation in London. Furthermore, Flavio is currently creating a series of videos for Steinberg “Produce like a PRO” video series and teaches music composition for film and television at the N.U.T. Academy in Naples.
